March Snow
Pictures from around the house before the snow melted. The weatherman
had been predicting this storm for days as we watched it move in from
the Gulf of Alaska. Yesterday we had a quick flurry of flakes that
never really hit the ground, but this morning we got about three inches.

Snowy hills to the east.

CJ out by the henhouse.

Our neighbor's house, about a mile away.

View toward the gate.

The hills to the south are snow-covered, too.

The snow came straight down, and piled up on everything it landed
on. Notice the hat of snow on the hummingbird feeder.

A hummingbird in the rose bush.

A closer view. We had great clouds of hummingbirds, both on the
south side of the house where the feeders are, and on the north side
in the Eucalyptus trees.

The ash tree's snow covered branches reach skyward.

Each twig has its own cap of snow.

The ash tree at the end of the patio is full of hummingbirds. Look
closely!

CJ in the snow by the front porch. The driveway is still pristine.

Looking toward the spa. Snow on the pine trees.

Snow on the shrubbery.

Snow on the Eucalyptus trees.

Snow on the potted shrub.

The hummingbirds were disputing precedence at the porch feeders.

Occasionally one would actually get to drink. Notice the other one
flying in the background, near the tree.

Sharing the feeder.

A very cold mourning dove in the old mulberry.

And again.

And again.

The Chinese Pistachio in the back yard.

The hummingbird feeders that weren't under the overhang got well
covered with snow.

And the hummingbirds didn't like that at all!

Another hummingbird in the rose bush. This was another favorite
place for them.

Looking est across the back yard.

Even the cable spool on the patio had its own snowy cap.

The south side of the house, with snow on the roof.

The pistach again.

Snow on the vehicles. It's already starting to melt.

The pine tree by the spa. The ground is beginning to show under it.
